About the Repository of Tools

In recent years Europe has experienced a large migrant/refugee flow from countries experiencing social unrest, poverty, and war. The rapid influx of large numbers of people who may have experienced disruptions in vaccination schedules could increase existing immunity gaps. Improving coverage of low-cost vaccinations is considerably more effective compared to the high costs involved in mounting an outbreak response once transmission is established, and treating individuals with vaccine-preventable diseases and their complications. Although vaccination is offered to migrants in most EU/EEA countries, migrants’ utilization of health services providing vaccinations is not always ensured due to several types of barriers. Development of migrant-friendly strategies to increase access to vaccinations at community level should be encouraged.

The aim of the repository of tools is to facilitate professionals FOR the health of Newly Arrived Migrants (NAMs) in their daily practice and provide them with tools that can contribute to successfully addressing the barriers they are facing.
